There are things in life we cannot change.
So why do we complain about them?

So I've got to stop complaining. There's nothing I can do and it's distracting me anyway.

Whatever happens is going to happen and then and ONLY then does one make a choice. Until then it's just empty fearmongering, which leads to miscommunication or worse. Nor do I want to "scare myself to death". I just want to live my own private happy life. And being worried about the future is a big distraction.

I've been told to put on proverbial blinders to ignore the rest of the world. And that is what I'm going to do.

1. The classic serenity prayer comes to mind
"God grants me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

and my version, which is worrying about things I can't change or can't know is a huge waste of time and energy.

2. or this version
"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those that pissed me off!"

Just kidding.

4. If you love somebody, set them free ....
and if they don't come back to you, hunt them down and kill them!

(semi-popular bumper sticker from years ago)

3. If you made a list
of all the things you worry about over the course of a year, and, at the end of that year, checked off everything that actually happened--you probably would only check off 1 or 2, if that. We waste of lot of good thinking and sleeping time worrying.

5. Because we are human.
Sometimes those complaints are simply a reaching out for reassurance or commiseration.
