If your house was on fire, what would you grab? |
|
I would grab and take my Mom, my cat, my important documents, my computer disks, my photo albums, and water. I would leave behind everything else.

Assuming I don't have to grab the wife or daughter I would go for the family photos. I have the family archives that cover 5 generations

Pouring rain outside, too. Nothing like trying to keep a wet cat calm in a rainstorm.
Our house was a few feet from a house that was on fire. Ours never burned, fortunately.

outside along with the dog. I ran upstairs to get the cat and on the way out grabbed the hose mounted by the porch and drug it inside for DH. He & my adult son were already cutting out the wall where sparks from their working had flew and created smoldering. Living in a home over 100 yrs old, we knew how quickly it could ignite.
Happily, it was all put out by the time the entire fire/emt/police arrived. They used thermal imaging to make sure everything was safe.
I have to say though..fires can develop quickly and spread rapidly..so act quickly if you ever have one. First priority is to get everyone out. There is very little time in a real fire to grab documents etc. We keep ours in a fire proof safe..they don't cost very much..you can get them under $100.
edited to add: I forgot to mention that the poor cat is so afraid of outdoors that he grabbed on the screen door for dear life. I had to peel off each paw to get outside.
