Is the World Series over? Who won?
I was just sitting here, and I realized that I heard a lot of news while the world series was happening, but I've heard jack shit - not from the news, not on DU, not from the people I see every day, no one has asked, "So, how about that final World Series game?" - about the end.

Who won? When was it done?

Maybe it ended when I was off on retreat and out of the news cycle for a few days.

9. Thanks - at least one person is nice in this thread.
I remember seeing once that the detroit pitcher was accused of using pine tar or something - did anything come of that?

11. Not really...
he definitely had a foreign substance on his hands, but after the Tigers got pounded nobody seemed to care very much.

Never mind. They couldn't win if they were playing against a Girl Scout troop. :banghead:

13. Jamie Gold
I assume you are referring to the World Series of Poker held in Las Vegas in August.

Was there a "World Series" in some other sport? Wouldn't the poker promoters' lawyers bring the hammer down on them? Their commissioner must be a real :dunce: !

16. I thought you were from Texas! What's this St. Louis jones you have?
You are confusing me. Shouldn't you be rooting for some horned frogs or leap frogs or armadillos or something?

17. My dad's hometown is East St. Louis.
I've been a Cardinals fan since birth, if not before. :)

The Air Force sent us to Texas and we decided to stay. I'm no Texan, I just live here.

19. Oh. Well, then, don't you have to go water your house?
(I have a friend from Texas and she always has to go water her house so it won't crack).

Anyway, the St. Louis over Detroit thing lasted exactly one day, when Detroit beat the Blues in hockey. So we have bragging rights anyway.

20. lol...yeah, it's advised that we water our foundations.
Mostly in the summer when there's no rain, but it's been fairly wet here lately. It's downright lovely lately. 68 and sunny today.

As for the Blues, I can go find a bunch of guys who have never been on skates in their lives and probably at least get into a shootout with the Blues. They suck.

21. Well fine then! Just so you know, I have to go now
I'm not ignoring you, really. I just have to go out and drink with a friend for her birthday.

Be sure to root for Michigan tomorrow, even though they are playing a team named (ahem!) the Cardinals!!!!

Have a great weekend.

:hi:

Afterwards, the Blue Jays got voted off the island.
