No, not of of these.
This:
I'm working on our local Dem campaigns.
But sometimes my heart just isn't in it.
1. We're doing a phone bank. GOTV.
Maybe that used to work, but today all you get is answering machines during the day and people who don't want you to call in the evening when they ARE home.
2. I don't think a yard sign ever changed anybody's mind or got a single vote. It's just a way of announcing to the world "HEY! I'M FOR THIS GUY!"
So?
I don't think a single person I know will vote for my candidate just because I am.
3. Same for bumper stickers, although I do appreciate the clever ones.
4. Billboards? Maybe if they have some kind of info or a message. Forget the ones with just a "VOTE FOR _____".
5. The nasty negative commercials. I flip the channel on all of them. Ours aren't much more 'tasteful' than theirs.
I'm beginning to think I'm a Democrat just because they aren't the repugs.
I don't hear anybody talking about real, serious issues and problems and what to do about them. It's all sound bites and buzz words and pandering and what they think the 'base' wants to hear.
Maybe it's just battle fatigue.
And maybe I'll feel better after Tuesday.
I haven't felt better after an election in a long time.
I'm too old for this shit.
OK, back to work.
:-)
