It is cheaper to fly out of Austin than Corpus Christi |
|
I have been searching for airfares for the holidays and it is $100 cheaper to fly from Austin. I am going to drive up the night before and leave my car at a relative's house. The airport here is very small, maybe that's why everything is so much more expensive. That and the fact it is one more leg; there are almost no direct flights from here.
A while back I saw a story on the local news about how so many people were choosing to drive to San Antonio or Houston to fly because it was cheaper. The airport people said that it will only get cheaper if more people fly from here. But people won't fly from here until it gets cheaper so I guess it never will. Bit of a Catch-22 there I guess.

It was cheaper but you need to factor in a tank of gas each way. I hope that the Southwest fares will get better now that the Wright amendment is going out.
