This damn war just became personal.
The fiance of my friend's grand-daughter was killed in Iraq on Thursday.

Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

1. It's damned near inevitable that each and every DUer
will know somebody who lost their life over in Iraqi-stan.

Right now, I knew 3 people who have died over there. All three I served with and all three good men.

Two weeks ago, a man from my town died in Iraq. I didn't know him, but his step-brother goes to my school.

7. I am so sorry, my dear QMPMom..........
They are in my thoughts and prayers.......of course......

My daughter's husband's sister's husband died over there a couple of years ago.......

Her in-laws (who are still staunch Repubs) have suffered so much....

They no longer support the war at all.......

He was a bright young man.......so much promise, so much waste......

10. It's getting to be like Vietnam in so many ways...

By the end of that debacle, everybody had been directly affected somehow -- Everyone had a family member or a friend or acquaintance who was there, maybe injured or killed. 58,000 dead, eventually. Will this disaster be over before the same thing happens and somebody has to design another big, black Wall?

and your friend and her family.

I wish people would realize that, as citizens of this greater world, it's always personal whether we directly know people who are in harm's way or not. Then war would be impossible to wage and support.

Welcome to DU!
