Women of DU: how long does it take you to "get ready" - and what do you do?
As for me:

shower
shave legs
wash hair
dress
put on contacts
brush teeth
apply foundation, eyeliner (sometimes), mascara, blush
dry hair
curl hair on hot rollers
brush hair

45 minutes, max

Most days I do a combination of the above (I rarely shave my legs and curl my hair on the same day, especially in the winter!), so then it only takes me about 30 minutes, maybe even less. I can't figure out why some women take so long. Like my mom only wears a little makeup and curls her hair, and it takes her at LEAST an hour and half! :wtf:

39. On Fridays, I get up at 5 AM and get to the radio station around 7:20 AM
Edited on Sun Nov-05-06 04:01 PM by Radio_Lady
I make my bed while watching TV news, scrub my teeth, shower, shampoo and condition my hair, shave legs if I feel I need it, get dressed and downstairs in the kitchen by 6:00 AM, get lunch ready and materials for my radio show, then out the door and in my car at 6:30 AM. It's exactly 12 miles from my house to the station, and I always stop halfway there by the cleaners at 7 AM if picking up clothes (that's when he opens). I do my make-up quickly -- foundation, blush, lipstick, eyebrow pencil -- right there in my car in their parking lot. (The daylight is better in the summer, but the convenience store has outside lights, too, so I can see what I'm doing even in winter.) Driving on, I'm usually at the station around 7:20 AM. First guest recording at 8 AM Pacific Time -- and guest can be either in person or on the telephone.

On other days, it's about 30 minutes from wake-up to gym (no makeup and no need to shower before entering the gym pool for the aerobics class).

Around 45 minutes if we're going out to dinner or a movie or the symphony (I add in 15 minutes for make-up time).

I usually don't do much with my hair -- just comb through wet and put in some barrettes, or slap on a hat. Wet hair keeps me cool in the summer, and dries quickly whatever the weather. A perm helps put in some curls at the ends. I used to do the whole hair roller thing when I was younger, but find that I don't care about doing it now. People always compliment my skin and hair, so I must be doing something right!

I'm rarely late for anything -- if at all, I prefer to be a few minutes early for almost everything.

3. I can get in the shower and be out the door in about 15-20 minutes
I'd rather not...but even when I take my time it doesn't take that much longer. Once I'm out of the shower, I usually just put on a little makeup, drag a brush through my hair, brush my teeth, get dressed and pour a cup of coffee.

4. Depends. Usually about 30 minutes, unless I'm lolly gagging
or something.

I:

Have some OJ.
Make coffee.
Shower.
Put on make up.
Dry my hair.
Get dressed.

Oh, and play with the dog. :7

6. oh man, if I'm dressing up?
I can go upwards of one and a half, two hours. I use this face stuff (Dr. Brandt "laser in a bottle", actually) and antioxidant stuff in addition to moisturizer and have a straightening iron that makes my hair look like Jennifer Aniston's but makes my arms hurt and takes way too long. It looks so good, though!

I'm such a girly girl.

7. I pull my pants up one leg at the time and
double tie my shoes so my clumsy ass won't trip on the shoelaces. It takes about 10 minutes if I have to brush my teeth too. It depends on the time of day whether that stop is necessary before I am ready.

Where are we going now? I'm ready.

19. About 20 minutes if I am going to work
Shower, deoderent, brush teeth, brush hair enough that it won't knot up, hand lotion, face moisturizer, and get dressed. I wear a hair net there, have to change into a uniform, and am not allowed to wear make up or contacts.
I might take around 45 minutes if I want to look good going somewhere in which case I'll put in contacts, make up, and some hair product.
One time when my dad was visiting my college, we were waiting for my boyfriend (who is now my husband) to get ready. My dad remarked that my boyfriend took longer to get ready than both his daughters.

Get up
Scrub face (acne medicine stuff)
Rinse out mouth
Put on something not totally wrinkled
Brush hair
Go downstairs

A grand total of 10 minutes. I do all my showering and crap at night (which I take a long time at, because I love to stand there in hot water :D). Very rarely any makeup for a normal day--I only put a mask on when I'm going someplace "fancy."

41. depends on if I am getting dressed up or not.
for the daily grind, and if my clothes are laid out the night before, coffee pot programmed etc.

I can shower, insert contacts, fluff my hair up, apply sunblocking moisturizer and dress in 20 to 25 minutes. Oh yeah brush teeth, apply deodorant etc.

Getting ready for something w/full makeup, jewelry etc is minimum 30 and more like 45 minutes, because panty hose are usually also involved. I mess with my hair a bit more too.

I am fortunate to have short wavy hair which does its own thing remarkably well when properly cut. Wash and wear hair, if you will.

I get up, put the oatmeal in the microwave, shower, make sure my stuff is all organized, put together a lunch if needed, feed the kitties their morning soft food, and by this time the oatmeal has cooled down enough that I won't scorch my mouth so I sit down to the computer and either read emails, pay bills, surf a little DU or play Heroes of Might and Magic until time to dress and leave. Coffee is usually ready to pour when I come out of the shower so I put it in a tall thermal cup so it doesn't sit on the hot plate and get rank.

None of the above applies if I oversleep. Then it is a big rusharound, and I eat the oatmeal in the car.

I'm out the door in 15 minutes. I am a no fuss woman who would much rather sleep in than spent much time on my appearance in the a.m.

When it's date time or a special occassion -- I can take an hour to do it all: the make-up, the clothes, the bling.
