not from a distro. This makes installing Gentoo seem quite easy.

Still haven't fully grasped why I need to compile binutils and gcc three times though. :shrug:

2. Can't help you there

The tech support weenies take care of that for me (the server's colocated). I had jillions of files from students that I never quite got around to cleaning out, and it took me waayyy longer than I thought it would.
