The main character becomes rich, then goes broke and joins the Martian army which invades earth and is completely wiped out, except for the main character who gets stranded on Mercury for a number of years and finally he and his wife and son are exiled to Titan. That is where he meets a robot from Trafalmadore who is delivering a message to another part of the galaxy. It turns out that all those people suffered and died because the Trafalmadorians were making them do it so the robot could get a spare part to fix his ship and continue on with his mission of carrying the message. The message, it turns out, is simply 'hi'.

Our story today concerns hfojvt, a collector of obscure absurdities, understandable only in ....
