I took some PIX of deer that were swimming across the Intracoastal Waterway.

On Saturday, I went fishing with my Dad and uncle on the boat, and while coming back down the Intracoastal Waterway at Topsail Island NC, we saw something weird in the water up ahead and we slowed the boat down to see what it was. Turned out what we first saw were deer ears sticking up. I was able to quickly grab my camera and get some pix of 3 deer swimming across the channel. They were swimming fast, and the water is quite deep there.

Thought you might like to see the pix:

4. How odd! Cool pics...
So for deer, does spinnerbait work best, or do you have to go with flies?

6. LOL!

I know people hit deer with their cars, but I never thought we'd have to watch for them while boating up the waterway!

5. Most people don't think of deers as swimmers, but they are.

They swim among the islands in Maine too, and that's cold water!

Cool pictures, Lex.

15. I always tuck my camera away when we are boating because
sometimes we see interesting things. A few months back I caught a pic of dolphins playing:

16. It definitely looked like they were going to make it all the way.
I've since found out that deer are strong swimmers and will swim if necessary. Sadly, it's deer hunting season here so they may have been swimming to get away from hunters and their dogs. On the bright side, it did look like they were going to make it to the other side of the waterway.

17. Good.
Yes, it is hunting season here as well. I try to send the local deer some esp vibes to come hang out on my property where it is safe. They do spend an awful lot of time here, so maybe it's working (or it could be all the apples. lol)
