No one ever went broke underestimating the American Public...
With that I bring you Borat...

Despite all the buzz about this film that it is Satire and is a deep political commentary about America, I would say it that is just an elitist excuse to laugh at what always works in America...

A wise fool with enough potty jokes so that everyone is "in" on the joke...

There is a Great American Movie Call Sullivan's Travels starring the all but forgotten Joel McCrae as a upitty director who is sick and tired of making comedies and wants to make the Great American...

So he sets off to see America, to find out the real story...

He goes traveling incognito and winds up on a Chain Gang in Georgia...

He sees the desperation that is all around him, the terrible condition people are forced to live in and yet they still go on...

What he discovers is that laughter, not tragedy or great writing is what is important to average American's... They want to laugh and laugh hard...

It turns out he has been making the Great American Movie all along and didn't even know it...

It pops up on TCM now and then and I highly recommend watching it just for the madcap humor, the pathos and the increadle Directing of an American Great, Preston Sturges...

Oh yea, Veronica Lake is in the Movie too....

I won't see Borat until it is on Cable, just not my cup of tea, especially when it costs about 30 bucks to see a movie and grab some popcorn...

But I can see why so many people want to see this movie... Well, that and the fact the marketing budget for the movie probably cost more than the actual production...
