Faith Hill
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 08:46 AM by erpowers
So, what do DUers think about how Faith Hill reacted to Carrie Underwood winning female entertainer of the year at last night's Country Music Awards? I did not watch the show, but the reaction was shown on the news this morning. At first when I saw the reaction it looked like she was happy for underwood in that I only saw the first part where Hill threw up her arms. Later, when ABC's Good Morning America, via Chris Cuomo, pointed out that she both threw up her arms and shouted WHAT!. So do DUers who saw the event and those who did not think Hill was just extremely happy for Underwood, or that Hill was extremely upset at being beat out for the award by, of all people, Carrie Underwood.

On another note how to people think this will affect Hill? She and her husband, Tim McGraw, have been very vocal about the facts that they are Democrats and that they are unhappy with President Bush's leadership of the country. A link to the video of Faith Hill is below.

1. I don't really know what that was about, but
I don't think it will affect her too much honestly.

5. Sorry, but to me, both Hill and Underwood are extremely dull performers.
I guess I just don't like their brand of music, but both of them to me seem to be completely dispassionate, going-through-the-motions, commercial singers and nothing more. Sorry if this insults fans of either.

8. Not an insult, but I disagree
Poppy doesn't mean go through the motions or dispassionate. Faith was quite good early in her career, and Carrie Underwood put out a surprisingly solid CD. It's better than Kellie Pickler's IMO.

She may have been riffing Kanye West

Faith Hill on 'angry' CMA reaction: Just joking

NEW YORK (AP) -- Faith Hill insists she's no Kanye West.

The country music superstar says she was just joking when cameras showed her screaming "WHAT?" in apparent anger when she lost the female vocalist of the year award to newcomer Carrie Underwood at the Country Music Association Awards ceremony Monday night in Nashville.

"The idea that I would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is unimaginable to me," Hill said in a statement. "For this to become a focus of attention given the talent gathered is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving Female Vocalist of The Year." (Watch some of the highlights of the event -- 2:20)

---

However, Hill said it was all a joke, and her manager, Gary Borman, echoed that: "I've worked with Faith for many years now and the idea that she would ever insult or undermine another artist, let alone another human being's success is absolutely preposterous. Those who know her know that she's incapable of such actions," he said in a statement.

"She was being playful while the nominations were being read and playful after."

Underwood, the 2005 "American Idol" champ, has become a triple platinum success since releasing her debut album late last year. Hill is a longtime darling of country music with crossover pop appeal.

This is the second time in less than a week that an awards show loss has resulted in an (apparent) on-camera freakout by a loser. Last week, Kanye West stormed the stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards and interrupted the speech of the winners, claiming his video deserved the honor.

9. LOL, what a poor loser
I liked Faith Hill too.. well, she is pretty good looking, but that was pretty bad.

I watched the tryouts for that year of American Idol and when I saw Carrie tryout, I told my friend that she will not only win the whole thing, she will become a star. I've done that before. I should have been a talent scout..LOL

As for the award, it's too bad that they really give a shit about something like that. Faith's reaction shows me that she isn't in the business for the passion of music as much as she is to make cash and win awards.

10. Wow - that did not look like a pleased "what!"
Especially since she sat right down after. Faith needs to accept that Carrie is doing well on the charts. It did look like she was a sore loser. Fortunately, I think both artists are Democrats.
