The RetroLounge Daily Poem Thread (Tue 11/7/06)
Politics

How can I, that girl standing there,
My attention fix
On Roman or on Russian
Or on Spanish politics?
Yet here's a travelled man that knows
What he talks about,
And there's a politician
That has read and thought,
And maybe what they say is true
Of war and war's alarms,
But O that I were young again
And held her in my arms!

William Butler Yeats

2. it really doesn't get any better than Yeats--
perfect for today. It is pouring the rain where I live. I hope it does not keep the voters away.

4. My dear Retro!
How beautiful! It really lets us women see how a man's mind works...

This time, anyway!

And this is a wonderful poem........

But O that I were young again
And held her in my arms!

I just love that verse.......
