What do I say to this guy?
At this one LiveJournal, there's a guy called "Dorsai."

He said this about DU:

"I was just reading a thread on DU about how George Bush is going to cancel the 2004 elections to keep himself in power without the hassle of an election."

"This is what passes for mainstream thought over at DU."

"Between that and the continuing flow of new censorship rules over there, I don't understand how any serious person could be a part of it."

"I call it 'mainstream thought' at DU because every time someone posts it, there's invariably a chorus of agreement and almost no dissent or discussion. I suspect a number of DUers are secretly hoping something like this happens (never mind the impossibility of it) in order to validate their fantasies of Bush being some kind of a Nazi."

What can I say to a guy like this?

(BTW, "rhjunior" is even more right-wing than the Freepers.)

1. Where are these threads? I have not seen them.
Of course, I know it has been discussed, and it is far from impossible, but that is beside the point.

I am sure you can go to his politcal website and find something equally off the wall the other way.

Try that.

2. tell the assbag that there .....
Is more than just one opinion here. Look at the "Bush caused the Iran quake" threads...many people disagreed with it. This guy didn't (or won't acknowledge) the respondents to the post he read. Point that out.

3. Nothing.
Don't even take the bait. If that's what he things then, just say thanks for the opinion and you have nothing to add.

5. My Submission
"I was just reading a thread on DU about how George Bush is going to cancel the 2004 elections to keep himself in power without the hassle of an election."

Well, it's a very popular theory; I'm not aware that George Bush has mailed out official announcements yet.

"This is what passes for mainstream thought over at DU."

I'm not sure WHAT passes for "mainstream thought" on a liberal political chatboard. Mainstream thought on a conservative political chatboard would consist largely of praising St. Bush.

"Between that and the continuing flow of new censorship rules over there, I don't understand how any serious person could be a part of it."

The censorship isn't that bad. At least the chatboard isn't censored by George W. Bush.

You say it's impossible for Bush to cancel the election? If we were having this discussion on Democratic Underground, I'd have to watch my words. But since we're discussing this on (insert the name of the website here), I think you're just another ignorant asshole or another right-wing operative (and therefore an asshole).

Is that mainstream enough for you?

6. Ask Him "Why he hates so much"?
That's what pukes have said to me on Yahoo boards before. Also, ask him how it feels to be a McCarthyistic fascist who supports lies about weapons that could destroy the world while at the same time destroying his kids futures?

Then, clear your mind of your hate for these people and remember there are only 3 types of republicans; the uninformed, the misinformed and the deformed. That means there's a 2 out of 3 chance that this guy's just dumb and not another racist retard.

8. You bother with Yahoo?
I do every now and then, but only when I'm dealing with a real mental midget of a conservative. Don't deal with the ones who think they know things, because they're not nearly as much fun -- they just misquote and use incorrect statistics, rather than being stupid/desperate.

7. i don`t have any fantasies
i know the bush klan may not be nazi`s but are setting up a fasist state. it`s very clear that this is going on and this will be made really clear when the convention in new york takes place. he can`t stop the elections but with the media and his millions of dollars he will buy the election. i see nothing but darkness in the united states for years to come

9. He's used to echo chambers
like Free Republic, where everybody says the same thing all the time.

There's no such thing as "mainstream thought" on DU.

As for "how George Bush is going to cancel the 2004 elections to keep himself in power without the hassle of an election", Freeper types were saying the identical thing about Clinton.

Anybody who thinks there's no dissent hasn't spent enough time in the two General Discussion forums or the Foreign Affairs forum or posted a conspiracy theory.

10. It's Bush's avowed desire to be dictator...
"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator."
