1. The Dow is irrelevant
Americans' ability to live in prosperity is.

2. No, it is relevant - it means that the financial people feel a Dem win
is a good thing, and worth valuing stocks higher.

When the DOW started going up a few weeks ago, I had much higher confidence that the dems were going top win. And that the DOW would go up, and go up to a record level, on a day after an election in which the dems took the house of reps and there was vaguery over two states elections means that Wall Street is confident of future goodness.

So it is most assuredly NOT irrelevant.

3. Actually, it is relevant
It means that even the well-heeled money movers in high places are optimistic about better days ahead. It means that they know that there's going to be more money moving around in our economy, and since the middle and lower classes move A LOT of that money, they're excited about that prospect.

It means that the outlook for our economy isn't hanging exclusively on the prospects of oil companies, war contractors, and other Bush cronies... and that means a lot.

4. Very amusing.
The markets prefer gridlock at the federal level to the extreme Republican fiscal incontinence.
