I feel like there was a big party last night to which I was not invited.
I know The Democrats picked up some seats in the state legislature and in local races. And I know my county is 100% Democratic in the state legislature, which is nice. But, none of our statewide candidates came within a country mile of winning. I'm so angry with our ineffectual state party who once again pulled an 0-fer in statewide elections.

I'm really happy about all the good news, really I am. But, I still feel a little disenchanted today.

2. It must be hard to be in Texas in all places.....
not knocking it (well, maybe a tad) but it must be hard to be either moderate or liberal down there.

Hug.

5. It's not so bad here.
At least when I go out, I know that most of the people I run into are pretty much of like mind with me. The problem is that when the state legislature meets the crazy crap they pass affects us here, too.

:(

We'll get LynneSin to come up from Delaware, and we'll go get one of these:

served by Brianna, the vision of lovliness! :grouphug:

6. Lynne called me last night.
I really wanted to be happier for her than I was.

Now that burger and the lovely Briana would make the pain go away! :9

4. There are others who feel as you do.
Across the country, in spite of the generally great news, there are several WTF outcomes that, while not particularly bad news in a national sense, are certainly bad for the people who have to continue living under the 'leadership' of the Monkey Nuts Party.

All I can offer is empathy and understanding, and the fervent hope that the inevitable sexual perversions and corrupt dealings of your representatives are revealed sooner rather than later, so they can be replaced quickly by human beings.

8. What sucks is that ours was not a "WTF" outcome.
This state really is that backward, I fear. Thanks, though.

9. Please
I hope you're not refering to being outed as gay as "sexual perversions." :)

Being outed as a pedophile would definitely qualify! But let's not confuse the two through accidental vagueness.

:hi: Thank you.

11. Oops! No, absolutely not.

The thought didn't enter my head. When I think of Repugs and sexual perversions, my imagination conjures up things that would make Clive Barker blush, not normal relations between consenting adults of whatever gender.

Thanks for pointing out the vagueness, though. I wouldn't want to even accidentally imply that I consider homosexuality a perversion. Gah! Certainly not.

10. A lot of GLBT people are in the same boat.
Even if we won our state races, in many places we lost the current battle for equal rights. :(

We'll all keep pushing for a more progressive, more left leaning democratic presence everywhere, and eventually we'll all hopefully be able to attend that party. :)

12. That stuff is so patently offensive to me.
Why people can't see that it's a simple matter of civil rights. Read the 14th Amendment anyone?

I look forward to celebrating your eventual civil rights victory. :toast:

13. I've been away...
But I completely agree. Yesterday I convinced 4 Kinky voters to vote for Bell and had hope. Alas, this is still Texas, I am still in Tarrant county, I am still Blue in a Red state!! :hi: It's SO good to see you!

17. Not a pretty day in SC, but even we forced a couple of recounts
Mind you, in one, the incumbent lieutenant governor has a history of getting stopped for driving 100+ mph and yet never gets any tickets and in another the Republican nominee for superintendent of education apparently doesn't believe in teaching education, but still. (You'd think we'd be able to beat these freakshows just by running Other, wouldn't you?) I hope Texas isn't as backwards as this, but I think I remember that it was where the religious right first figured out that school boards and textbooks were just the kind of red meat to turn out the base. (Not a knock on Texas either, just on a few deluded Texans.)

Oh, and we had an anti gay marriage amendment pass. And an anti-takings amendment pass. Whee!

So I feel your pain. I'm kind of grinning like an idiot and grimacing at the same time. (And it's NOT a pretty look.:))

You gots-ta move outta Tex-ASS.

I do know how you feel though. My former state saw fit to elect only 1 Democrat (and I use that word VERY loosely). NotThatImComplainingMindYouWeNeedThatSeatReallyBad...

...and then there's that whole being stuck with Da Gropenator. Of course, we have nobody to blame but ourselves. Even I didn't particularly want to vote for Angelides...but I digress.

34. Dude, there's a big party EVERY night to which you are not invited
And it's always called "The GOPisEvil Isn't Invited to This Party Party". And it's FUCKING INSANE!! Pretty much the whole country is there.

A couple times a year a few of the true patriots sacrifice themselves and throw a small party to which you are invited, just so you don't get suspicious.

But... shhhhhhhh.... this is all secret.

I'm finding it VERY HARD to be happy about the national outcome when nothing much changed in my district. I'm so sad - and so, so tired.
