I think most DUers under the age of 25 or so are feeling like this right now. :P

1. Well, I'm eating potato chips and debating whether or not to make a drink.
Should I make a drink?

2. I know it's a strange feeling
I was just telling this to my dad, who doesn't seem to understand because this is the first time I've been able to enjoy a total victory of something I wholeheartedly supported...whether it be politics, sports or whatever...it just feels...I donno...strange

I mean I remember 92 and 96 but I was just a kid and didn't care about politics so those wins really hold no sentimental value to me

Be proud, young man. Your vote made a difference. Congratulations and thank you for picking the right party to be a part of. :pals:

8. Actually, my vote didn't make much of a difference.
It just helped the Democrats steamroller over Northern New Mexico slightly more. :D

10. Ah, but what if hundreds or even thousands of us thought
that way and decided not to vote? The outcome would have been different if that happened. You should still be proud and don't forget to gloat especially in the presence of any right wingers right now. :P

12. I lived under a Democratic Congress for the first 40 years of my life.
To be frank, I didn't appreciate it. You get complacent when things are good.

I think you should just sit back and feel that your democracy is to be restored. But don't do what I did. Don't get complacent.

15. Well, I'm thinking of putting my hair in tiny braids, dying it fluorescent
green, smearing camoflage paint on my face, borrowing a spear, putting on a tux and some lovebeads, and prancing up and down some street in the District of Colombia brandishing the spear while yelling Ooga Booga.

But since I don't have a lawyer on retainer, I'm only thinking about it for now ...

17. Enjoy the feeling, dance and
have fun...then come Jan. get ready to work, work hard and to remind them that you along with America put them there and THEY owe us what we ask for. Be vigilant, remind them to stay true to the ideals and that they do not want to be like the repukes because america will turn on them if they repeat the same mistakes. Course they are Dems and they start off with a bit more wisdom and heart but it is still our job to make them remember what is right.

27. TRUST the people we put in office. The biggest mistake Dems (and Repubs) make
when they win is assuming that now we get everything we want. No such luck. Now we have the opportunity to get a little more of what we want than the other side does. Support your officials, support the people we put in office, and resist the urge to blame them when they don't get everything right. Also, understand that they will still have to please their constituents, and for another two years, work with Bush. They will compromise. They will still play politics and give away things we want and make horrible statements disagreeing with our basic politics.

It's much easier to be out of power. All you have to do is whine. I'm good at that--being out of power is fun. Being in power is hard--it takes compromise, getting dirty, giving up cherished ideals to move us closer to other cherished ideas. Much greater reward, if you stay with it.

Not saying we don't need to hold some feet to a very hot fire, mind you. Our side can get as corrupt as theirs, and we do need to fight those who sell out for no gain. We just have to understand that sometimes "gaining" something requires us to give others some of what they want.

DU's never seen us in charge. I suspect it will get nastier here now than it did when we were behind. Which sounds like fun to me. :)
