I'm taking the test on December 2nd. I'm a first-time taker.
I've been doing practice tests for the past month and I'm working on the Powerscore Logic Games and Logical Reasoning Bibles. Any other tips that people who have taken it can give me would be appreciated.

And all the weekend courses they are running now are in NYC or other big cities that I am nowhere near. I guess I'll just take more practice tests. I'm getting scores in the high 160s and low 170s so I hope the real test turns out that way too.

7. Interesting. I've always heard that the difference between a 180 and a 140 |
|
is a result of the logic game scores...on average, of course.

8. logic games sections have gotten progressively easier |
|
in the past couple of years. now most people can run the table on them with a bit of practice. but it's hard to improve at reading comprehension in a short time.

12. Heh. The logic games on the actual test were MUCH harder |
|
than any of the practice ones I took.
I was consistently scoring very highly on my practice logic games tests; the ones on the test itself were murder.

9. Don't freak out about it too much. |

If you're getting 160s and low 170s in practice, you're doing very well, unless you've got your heart set on Yale.
I took a practice, kind of on a whim, in July of 2005 and got a 152 (ugh). If not for the games section, I would have had something in the low-160s. So, I got a book, did a bunch of games...under really less-than-ideal testing conditions. On a train, while my SO's then 2-year-old was having a temper tantrum in the next room, etc. I did a very occasional LR or RC section, but mostly did games. (I didn't obsess, though -- I did maybe a few hours a week.) By test time, I was routinely getting only one or none wrong per game. I ended up with a 167, which was enough to get a full scholarship at the local law school (and, since I'm not big on the "you need to go to the best school that will let you in and take out 120,000 in loans because you'll get a better job to pay it back" thing -- I'm more in the "go where you want to go" camp, I was very very happy.)
Good luck!

I just passed the Texas bar exam on the bloody third try, so the LSAT seems like a piece of cake in retrospect. I'm sure it doesn't seem that way to you, however.
I have nothing substantive to add as advice, but will add some "lifestyle" advice that worked for me. Take the night before the exam off (I watched the Olympics opening ceremonies and took a long bubble bath to relax). The morning of the exam, eat a good breakfast (I had waffles AND eggs). Read the newspaper to get your brain working. Do a round of practice questions to get your brain up to speed for the exam. Take your iPod and go off on your own at the break; don't hang around ANYONE else. You don't need to listen to others discussing the exam.
Take your time on the exam, but be mindful of the time limitations. The logic games were worst for me. Just do your best and try not to freak out. It sounds like you're doing the right things so far and are prepared. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best of luck!

13. Complete the practice test under actual test conditions. |
|
But relax the night before the exam. The best thing you can do is to not freak out during the exam.
