Me? My son refused to pick up his shoes, both my children got into a wrestling match... and they both have half days today...

Why didn't we fight it over there in someone else's throat so we don't have to fight it in MY throat?

4. The developmentally challenged Lab we have part-time stepped on my barefeet.
Oh and she nipped my fingers while I was trying to give her a biscuit, because she doesn't know how to gently take food.

Fucking labs are the dumbest dogs on earth.

6. Awww..they do seem a little slow don't they?
Have you tried saying Niiiicccceeeee, take it niiicceeee in a calm voice before giving her a treat? That's how I begin with my labs, although it took both of them some time before they "got it". I'm still working with my son's lab..she'll take your entire hand in her mouth along with the dog treat.

9. Yeah, it doesn't really help and she's almost 11, so I think everything is pretty ingrained.
Honestly, I just think they act like retarded puppies. I'm used to Shepherds and Pit Bulls, which are about 1000x smarter, especially German Shepherds. I would never voluntarily own a lab.

11. They do tend to think they're puppies their entire lives
I'm surprised she's still stepping on feet though. Mine is 2 and still will occasionally but not anywhere near like he did when we first got him.

I've never owned a shephard or pit so I can't compare. My former neighbor had a shephard and a rottie and both of them were very well trained and seemed pretty smart. The rottie used to come over and "knock" at my door to get a dog cookie, then she'd go back home.

13. Shepherds are smarter than a lot of people.
They're also extremely human-like in their emotions. Pits are pretty smart, sweet dogs, too.

This lab I think has severe ADD or something. Even when you tell her to sit, her whole body will be wriggling. Unless she's sleeping, she never, ever stops moving.

38. Actually they do - that is quite true
Domestic dogs and cats stay infantile their whole lives. They never grow up. You wouldn't want a proper grown up dog or cat in your home - it would be like a wild animal.

18. Not Dumb. Excitable
They actually are very clever at problem solving. That's why they're so commonly used as helper dogs for handicapped adults. Highly trainable, and good at figuring things out from the available facts.

But, they never completely grow up. They stay very puppy-like and remain in that excitable state for pretty much their whole lives.

Once they get their grounding, and can calm back down, they will learn how to do almost anything, and in a big hurry.

Herding breeds are smart as hell. Personally, they're too small for my tastes, but they're definitely smarter than a lab.

out of the kitchen. She still has to be there when I tuck him in at night to make sure we do it right and she's brings me his shoes in the morning. We call her his "other mother". MrG grew up with Shelties and there wasn't a dumb one in the bunch. We had a beagle once...I'll just leave that one alone... :hi:

41. Beagles are fucking dumb and their howl is annoying.
Our German Shepherd Cheyenne would act like a mother to the cats. When they were kittens, she used to carry them around by the scruff. And if the cats did something wrong like scratch on the couch, she would go over and knock them over with her paws and really, really lightly nip them. It was funny. She was more aware of the cats getting in trouble than we were and she knew how to handle the situation. The cats (except for Midnight, who just hates all other animals) used to sleep in the dog crate at night.

some woman at a pagan ceremony. I'm encouraging my two daughters to catch The Gay as well. I went door-to-door in my neighborhood last night and confiscated all my neighbors' guns, too. I'm recruiting illegal aliens too, but so far not too many want to live in Pennsylvania. Next, I'm probably going to go to my local high school and convince all the pregnant girls to get late-term abortions.

I know that doesn't sound like much, but it's only Thursday. I should have this all caught up by the weekend. What are our orders for Monday?

My kids have a WHOLE day off tomorrow. And they bickered and talked all the way through Jeopardy! last night. And continued their ranting into Dancing With the Stars until I came upstairs to watch it.

Then they decided to get 'concerned'...so they followed me up.

And #2 son is bugging me about his permit -- again.

I spend the afternoons looking for a space to just sit and be alone in and then they come zipping in like magnets to metal. If I'm in the tiny laundry room one of them is on the freezer and one on the folding table.
