The man was such a class act. I remember him standing up to the white redneck whose aunt was involved in the Emmett Till case.
He was the perfect balance between hard-as-nails when he needed to be, and light touch of humor when he needed to be.
Damn.
RIP, Ed Bradley.

6. That's what I heard, too |
|
I know he'd lost a lot of weight and he hasn't been looking good, but I didn't realize he had leukemia.
I suppose he didn't want us to know. Which was his right.
RIP.
He was still here for Tuesday, though. I hope that made it easier and that he died with hope in his heart.

9. I hate waking up to news like this |

Damn it, that guy was good, and he had style. I keep hearing his voice in my head, and I realize how much I trusted it — like, when he was reporting, I paid attention. He had a real gift for interviewing, for asking tough questions without being an attack dog, and then turning around and being so gentle. His Hurricane Katrina reporting was outstanding.
And I loved that earring. It said, "I am who I am."
I wonder, too — in another 10 years or so, whom will we have left to look up to in journalism?

10. A good, solid TV journalist... |
|
...in an age when, sadly, there are few of them left. I also understand he was a frst-rate guy all around.
