Rant on Christmas Tree Hooks
My fucking war on Christmas starts right now.
I want to talk about Christmas tree hooks.
I had to go buy hooks for the first time in 20 years.
The metal these things are made of wouldn't hold up a snowflake.
I have heavy ornaments and these things just straighten right out. There is nothing to them. My cat stepped on one and snapped it in half.
How much money can they possibly save on a sliver of metal?

2. Y'know what...I just can't stand the stupid things on principal.
I've got some, but most of the ones I have, I've had forever. When I buy new ornaments, I've taken to using gold thread and using that instead of those pesky, obnoxious hooks.

Works much better, IMO. Plus it doesn't slide off the branches as easily. Heh...in fact, sometimes taking the tree down is a pain in the ass because of it.

3. That's normally what I do
however, I just got an 8-foot flocked tree and I am finding that trying to put the threaded ones over the branches is pulling the flocking off.
Thus have to go with hooks.

4. What about
buying a box of paper clips? At least for the heavier ornaments that might work better.

5. Good idea
Thanks. I've already broken an angel that hit the ground when the hook gave way.

7. Awesome.
Thank you so much.
I could use these store bought ones for dental floss they are so thin.

9. Actually I put my tree up last week
:)
However, I only got as far as the lights and one box of decorations before work and the elections took center stage.
Hopefully I will be finished with it by tomorrow.

13. Well we go out of town the last two weeks of December every
year and I love Christmas (but don't tell anyone).
So I decided this year I was going to enjoy Christmas in my house during the month of November.:)

10. I couldn't find metal hooks last year
And now we have these awful green soft plastic things which didn't keep any of the ornaments on the tree. That was fun with a crawling baby.

12. Why don't they make christmas tree clips?
It'd be easier to put up, take down, etc. They wouldn't keep falling off every time the dog ran past the tree.

Shit, why did I write that? Now somebody else is going to patent it.
