My sister's having a baby today!
I'm going to be a first time uncle. How cool is that?!?!

We already know it's going to be a boy. I'm hoping he turns out to be either the first, openly gay second baseman for the Mets. Or the first, openly gay liberal President of the US. It's possible, right? Funny thing is, my sister's girlfriends have been wishing he's the first, openly gay President as well! My BIL said he's cool with kid being gay, just as long as he doesn't play for the Mets.

I can't believe I'm going to be an uncle. I'm going to spoil that little booger to death.

5. That would really piss off the BIL.
My sis and him consider themselves "conservative". They aren't really, but always vote Repug.

8. I can't wait.
He's the first baby in the family. My sister's begging for us to be next, but we can't have one as easily. But she's thrilled that her boy will have two uncles!

I'm glad this little guy is coming into a nation that is now more fair and balanced (hate that expression) in the Congress.
Congratulations.

13. His name in J.P.
J=Joseph, our father who is no longer with us.

P=Peter, my BIL whose father has also passed.

I begged my sister to hold off and not have him on Monday or Tuesday, so I could vote. Is that selfish?

17. My sister is thrilled that J.P. is going to have TWO uncles.
Me and my husband. She thinks it's cool to have a gay brother and BIL, but she still votes Republican.

Hopefully the two of you will be able to steer the little guy towards the light.
It's difficult for my mind to wrap around 'Republican thinking' - or is that an oxymoron??

PS - Tell your sister Congratulations from us all here at DU.

And, please - pics when you can!!!

I can't even figure out what to get him when he's born. The little dude already has everything. We're going to open him an ING account so he has some money if and when he goes to college. But we have to get him something else, ya' know?
