:sarcasm:

Well, I got that from the local North Carolina News 14 web site. It's in the comments section for a poll about the Iraq War.
http://rdu.news14.com/shared/poll/default.asp

Here is what that person said,
"You people with a "defeatest attitude" are cowards and in the cut and run bunch. Would you rather have the war on terror fought over there or on our shores? The Democrats in MN have already elected a Muslim to Congress. Does this not scare anyone?"

<snip>

Uh, no, should it? :eyes:

bunch. Nothing shocks me at this point.

3. Being a North Carolinian thats not the prevailing attitude around here.
I hear many more complaints about the way things are going, and mostly support for change. Stuff posted online is hardly a gauge of all of us.

6. I'm from North Carolina too, but what I am hearing is
totally opposite from what you are hearing. Do you live near Raleigh or Charlotte or something? I was just wondering what part of North Carolina isn't like the comment I posted from News14, because I hear stuff just like that all the time. You don't dare say things are not going well in Iraq here in Richmond County. If you do that here, you are cruising for a bruising.

18. I'm on the western side.
Most of the folks i talk too here have nothing good to say about this administration. Of course the circles we run in may be very different.

22. Yeah, the western part of the state has some nice pockets
with nice people. It all depends on which part of the state where you live. I live in a backassward small town in the central (close the eastern portion, but still in the central) part of the state. There are no real alternatives in this place where I live. It's a shithole.

Also our area is pretty laid back. It ain't no liberal bastion, though they do call Asheville the San Fran of the east. Yeah out where your at is very, very country.

28. Yes. Most of my recent experiences around people are at
the local community college. Any myths I believed about meeting more progressive people at this community college have been dispelled quite handily. There have only been a couple who were even slightly moderate there, nevermind progressive. It totally sucks there. At this point, I am beyond the disillusioned feeling I finally got. I just want to move on with my life after community college. It sucks that their attitudes have made it so bad that I am looking at other options as far as community colleges I can possibly afford just to get a slight change in atmosphere.

15. Yeah, well some Minnesotans are scared of Ellison, too.
There was this nastygram in today's Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

"What do chants mean?

Keith Ellison, now forever known as the first Muslim elected to Congress, repeatedly stated that his candidacy wasn't about religion. But during his victory speech, he was surrounded by chants of "Allah Akbar!" or "God is great!" So did Ellison use the Muslim community to get elected after all? Did Muslims use him? What debt does he owe them?" http://www.startribune.com/563/story/797524-p2.html

The anti-Muslim undertone in this LTTE is pretty apparent. Obviously the writer thinks Ellison "owes" Muslims something for his election, suggesting -- what?

We have plenty of bigots here, too.

21. I liked Jeffrey Kocur's response
Governor Pawlenty, now that you have been given a second chance to lead our state, I implore you to invest our resources in creating a Minnesota of which we can all be proud.

Be a partner in finding dedicated funding for world-class roads and transit. The success of the Hiawatha Line proves we are willing to leave our cars at home and use clean, efficient, fast and frequent light-rail service as an alternative. The Crosstown is strangling the south metro; it and scores of other road projects around our state need a stable source of revenue that does not rob funding from schools or health care systems.

The next four years will also be an opportunity for you to prove that you are an ally of our highly regarded K-12 and postsecondary educational community, which is vital to our state's prosperity.

You have been given another term to be a leader who does not allow the government to shut down, does not allow people to go without health care, and who invests in the quality of life that has made Minnesota a model for the rest of the nation. Please represent us well.

And Greg Brede was too busy 'investigating' Wetterling to look over Bachmann's own talking points, which are proven to be only small talk.
