What do you think of people making up their own political party? |
|
Dems, GOP? What about Wild Party?
By Brian Callaway Of The Morning Call John McMullen grew up in a household of Democrats, then spent some time trying to be a Republican. Neither party did enough to fight against the things he's most concerned about, though: abortion, gay marriage, and ''the rise of the occult.''
So McMullen, 50, changed his party registration. He now belongs to the Blue Army Party. His party registration refers to the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, a Catholic group with a shrine in New Jersey.
<snip> Several people who belong to outdated, marginal or downright bizarre parties said their registration choices are a form of protest; they don't feel at home as Democrats or Republicans, or even among any of the more mainstream third parties, such as the Greens or the Libertarians.
<snip> ''I couldn't really in my heart go really 100 percent Republican,'' he said. ''And this liberal stuff got too darn far out in left field.''

I could join the "Joe Lieberman for Connecticut" Party but I hear only one person was allowed to join. And he was an asshole.
