Need help from any New Yorkers - I'm coming to NY, NY |
|
A friend and I are going to be making a first time trip to New York City. Never been and this year is the year. No more talking about it, just doing it. (Well, fingers crossed - need to work out the details.)
We are on a somewhat limited budget (we certainly aren't rich but not dirt poor either), will be driving up and need advice on any ideas where to stay that will let us enjoy the city without having to sell a kidney and/or lung for a few days of fun.
We both have always wanted to do the Christmas in New York thing. Window shopping, Rockefeller Center, etc. while all the window displays are all decked out.
We are thinking sometime early December before all the families hit in for the Christmas stuff. Any suggestions on good places to stay, is it cheaper to stay mid-week or over a weekend? Besides the normal must sees is there anything special out of the realm of touristy things we shouldn't miss?

1. Well, I just got back! First trip for me too! |

I loved Rockefeller Center! Do the tour! It was cool. Everything in NY is expensive unless you know where to go. I had a great time and hope you do too!

they are like 40% off rack, but do not name the hotel till you book it. they tell you the neighborhood though, and work with major chains that would never advertise a discount. great deals, but try and book soon.... i'd also look at Timeout NY, laways lots of great cheap things to do in there. have a wonderful trip!
