My Friday's Night Ask Me A Difficult Question Thread! |
|
It may be the last one of the year, so get it while it is hot!
Be serious, and no asking about intentionally way-to-arcane things like "What is time like inside the event horizon of a black hole"
But anyway, any problems at all, no matter how difficult. Tortuous life decision? Want to know why someone does/won't do something? Ask me anything!
Or we can just chat. It is fine by me. Also, you are allowed to ask mind-boggling questions, but be aware that the answer will then appear in the next weeks thread.
****NO ASKING FOR MEDICAL ADVICE****
If you don't know what you want to ask, just tell me something you wish for. Simple.

3. I'm assuming she's taking AGES to do the shopping. |
|
In that case, you just feign indifference or give slight (non-comittal) signs of liking the first five or so, then when something looks good on her go "Wow, I really like that! It looks great on you!" (that sort of thing)
This makes her see the one dress as special above the others, and consequently will (more probably) choose that one in the end, so be careful to choose one that looks good to avoid going on more trips.
Hopefully, though frequently nothing will work, this will make such a clear distinction between that dress and the others that she'll choose that one.
Also, the other thing that helps is the price. The old saying about "came home with an elevator because it was marked down" holds some water.
You need to be careful with price though - generally, cheap is a bonus, BUT too cheap will make the dress look cheap to her, and a little bit expensive can create the illusion of greater quality. So something priced close to the normal would be the good range.

every woman in my family get pregnant when man so much as thinks they are hot and sneezes on them, and I am apparently going thru early menopause at 33? I can't get pg with a dh that has TWICE the normal sperm count!
My 46 year old, chain-smoking, hard living aunt got pregnant on accident at 42. Smoked thru her four total pregnancies and had four huge, healthy children. she's never battled her weight either. Tiny as a sparrow.
why is life unfair?

worth-while.
If it comes to, and sadly you can't have carpet grubs of your own, your home would be a great gift to one who was born into a situation without hope - in fact I hear that there are many orphaned Chinese girls arising from a preference for men and a one-child policy. (Yes, I am putting forward the option of adopting a poor orphan)
For so long we think that we can never be happy without something, and in this case it is so close to the heart that it is almost almost true. But really, the pitter patter on tiny feet and the little eyes looking up at you don't have to have silly genetic coding to be your little kid. :)
And of course, I think someone needs a hug!

ape while climbing a very tall tower and bieng shot at by nearby flying things.
That was a priceless moment, when I realised he was doing a King-Kong invasion.
Hey wait a second! This thread is supposed to be serious!

Darn it .... I am sorry But isn't Pratchett writing about things that are important in a funny way? Like different species (aka races) living together in peace and work together (like in the nightwatch)?

8. Aww, that makes it all better. Anyway, yes Pratchett does write about a lot of |
|
serious things - even the proper way to treat religious fanatics and high-and-mighty types came up. (From 'Feet of Clay'):
Vetinari: (Or whatever, it has been MANY years since I read them) Captain! Your conduct has led to numerous complaints from many esteemed gentlemen, and formal complaints from the Ministry Of Big Ominous Stones and Other Stuff! The preists are calling this an outrage!
In light of all this, Captain Vimes, I have no choice.......
....... but to give you a pay raise.
(and a promotion)

|
Also, the African can handle tougher food IIRC.
Why would you want to know about swallows?

24. Bali is always popular. I'm not sure whose summer you are talking about |
|
is the question.
From what I gather, Hawaii is overdone for tourists now. You might still enjoy it, but if you were after something a little more aú naturale then SE Asia has it's summer in your winter. Don't expect sand though.
In my summer (your winter), I would of course recommend Australia if you wanted beaches, as we have the most and the best of the world. Our nation is built for it you see.
Of course, these places would be in winter when you are in summer. If you wish to travel in summer and avoid the cold then the next obvious places that spring to mind are China and Japan.
The amount of history in each place in certainly appreciable, and of course there is the Great Wall in China.
If you wanted something a little closer to home, ask some Americans. In all honesty, I don't know that much about your part of the world.
Tropical is an interesting, because really, I think the best and not over-used tropical locations would be in your winter and our summer, when not so many Americans are out 'tropicating'.
Of course for sight-seeing Australia and New Zealand are both impressive in terms of natural beauty, and for humans Asia has some built wonders.
However, I'm still thinking in terms of places closer to me - oh well.
But really, if you want a good vacation, sometimes it is better to not go somewhere with stylised notions of how it is going to be, and go somewhere you know little about. :)
Hope this helps. Sorry that I know so little about your summer/my winter stuff. :)

23. I could put that under way-too-arcane, but I just have to say |
|
that we don't have the chemistry yet. Nanotubes using boron were looking promising, but strangely those metal-nitrates inside the 80-C buckyballs were made using wholly different means.
Very interesting.
I don't really know yet though.
I mean, if you really want to you can assemble something with a SEM, but that's too fiddly.
