Who will be the conservative Colbert?
Let's not dismiss the impact our political comedians have had on this election. I'm serious. We don't have stats. But I believe they played a significant role. The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Real Time with Bill Maher. They brought people to the polls who might have stayed home. Or voted for the right. They reach a wide demographic of ages, race, and gender. Unlike the hatetalkers on the right who speak to the older, white males.
So. You know the Roves out there are scouring the country for their own Colbert. Good luck with that; the right doesn't seem to be very gifted with comedy.
Who will it be?
And will it work?

17. Our paper has "Prickly City"
which is as funny as Mallard Filmore. Not funnier. But as funny.
I guess the only time I've laughed out loud at a "conservative" comic is when Jon Stewart does his "fair and balanced" schtick and takes his shots at liberals. He's often very funny and there's truth in what he says. And we laugh.
But he's no conservative.
So. We still haven't located that funny rightwinger.
Does he/she exist?
Or is that creature as mythical as the unicorn?

2. There are no conservative's creative or smart enough to pull a Colbert
All they can do is hurl juvenile insults. They have all the subtly of a boulder rolling through an orphanage, and satire is utterly beyond them.

6. "Satire is utterly beyond them."
Which is why so many of them apparently think Colbert is one of them.

4. Miller had his own show. So did Colin Quinn
both failed abysmally.
And I read Coulter's post-election column. Juvenile is right! Why can't the right move beyond fifth grade taunts? Her response to the election was to question the manhood of the Democratic victors.
Wow, Annie.
How politically insightful.
How witty.
How incredibly lazy and tired.
Time to check into Repub. Rehab for a few months.

8. Psycho blonde snotbag
Just because a guy doesn't worship at the altar of Coultergeist's fabulousness :sarcasm: doesn't mean he's less manly. As we feminists like to say, men of quality respect women for equality. And since you think that women are far better served by owning guns than a voter registration card, please do the free world a favor and tear yours up now. And if you want to live in a theocracy, Saudi Arabia would absolutely love you...as long as you kept your trap shut.

11. I hate saying this but ... the Dems will provide fresh ammunition for Colbert & TDS
they wouldn't be politicians if they didn't. I think the Republican administration is the gift that keeps on giving as well. All those hearings are going to produces hours of material.

15. Conservatives have no sense of humor.
They have no ability to be funny, it always comes off as simply mean.

16. If a woman can become a man, then why can't a progressive comedian
become a conservative comedian?
