6. They were created as Beatles wannabes, but fought to be themselves |
|
thanks to Mike...
Mike Mickey Peter Davy
(Mickey & Peter being tied.)
Davy only sung though he's got a worthy voice and can play an instrument, the others wrote songs after breaking free from Don Kirschner's grip - most of them being very good as well.

would be peter (for his real musical work before and after the monkees in the folk rock area) michael, because like peter was actually able to play his own instrument coming in
mickey, for that crazy hair he had
davey, didnt play his own instrument, beyond the tamborine, and was there strickly on his looks. although give him kudos for being on the brady bunch with marcia brady being the local president of his fan club.
peace david :hippie:

7. At the very least, they deserve credit |
|
for making a Neil Diamond song listenable ("I'm A Believer"... bless Neil Diamond, but the man can't fucking sing) and for producing Head, one of the trippiest films of the 60s.

9. You should see 33 1/3 Revolutions per Monkee |
|
which is included in the second season DVD package. Trippy! My oldest sister, who was a big time Monkees fan back in the day, didn't like it at all. I LOVED the jam session of Listen to the Band...that was cool.
A lot of the other stuff on 33 1/3 was goofy but the Listen jam session was awesome.

Mike Mickey Peter David
Mike was one of the first to get into video production. I really like his movie Elephant Parts. He also directed Repo Man, for one. Of course, his mother inventing White-out was a tough act to follow, so he had to produce. hehe
