1. I chose "other", but I meant "both" |

From what I remember, the song was started onstage one day. Something happened to another instrument or something like that so Randy Bachman started playing the riff and Cummings started just making up the lyrics live.
I think they just ended up putting the two thoughts together when they wrote the whole song later. I could be wrong though.

But maybe not for the same reason...blaming the powerless in society for what the powerful do: "I don't want your war machines, I don't want your ghetto scenes..." F*ck you, asshole, then talk to the people responsible for them, not my barefoot, pregnant ass.
It's the same as people going off on 'welfare queens' when the corporations that are offshored bilk the gov't out of billions in taxes each year. Lame. Lame. Lame.

5. "I got more important things to do . . |
|
than to spend my life growing OLD with you
I think it's kind of dated now, but puts down the American way of looking at things - women are supposed to find a man to hitchup with, have babies and a home and have him be the breadwinner, and of course, Grow Old Together . . . it's not so much a today thing, I dont' think, as a 60's thing. (Or, more specifically, a leftover 50's thing.)
