Anybody know where to get slipcovers?
(For under $100)? I desperately need a slipcover for my sofa. Our furniture really gets used alot, so it wears out fast. Anyway, I went shopping today for a slipcover for it. I went to Kohl's, Bed and Bath, Linens & Things and K-Mart. Except for KMart, I couldn't find one for under $125. At KMart, they had three of them and two were for loveseats. The other one was horrendous. I'm getting so desperate that today I drove by an old sofa on the side of the road, next to some trashcans. If it hadn't been ripped, I would've been tempted to pick it up. Anybody have any ideas? (I can't sew).

1. Check smartbargains.com and overstock.com
And if you have a linen outlet or anna's linens in your area, they might have them, too.

2. Maybe a King size bedspread or blanket?
I bought one at our surplus store for $20, it is a cotton blanket, navy in color and it worked pretty well. I too am pricing out sofas and the ones I see on the side of the road are far superior to mine. LL Bean has some really nice cheap furniture, I don't know what the cost would be to ship. Good luck!

3. Well, I checked out the online sites...
I found a few pretty good buys, considering. I remember when my mother used to buy slipcovers for everything; they had that foam backing and they weren't pretty, but she probably only paid about $10 for them. (I guess being poor isn't allowed anymore).
I thought about the oversized blanket suggestion, too. If the sofa was a little smaller, I'd try that. Thanks to both of you for the badly needed advice.

4. What style of sofa do you have?
~Are the seat cushions removable?
~Do the seat cushions have T-ends? (Meaning the cushions have a small outcrop sort of "arm" that fits in front of the sofa arm when in place)
~What is the length of your sofa from outside arm to outside arm?
~Are the sofa arms large and rounded, square, curved rectangle...?

Am an Interior Designer, so am asking because these things make a difference in finding the right type of slipcover.

Here's the SureFit site sale site:

Decent prices.

9. The sofa's long.
It's about 63 inches long and it has T-cushions. It has round arms. (Three seat cushions). I'm looking for something in a solid color (dark blue, green or red). But then again, all my living room furniture is ugly so it doesn't really matter. I just want to cover up the rips in the sofa. (4 cats)

12. With T-cushions, best way to go is with a cover that has a separate
cover that envelopes all three cushions. However SureFit makes some good ones for this type of cushion.

63" is not a super long sofa, and is just slightly larger than what's considered average loveseat size.

While the stretch-to-fit slipcovers do a great job, these are usually a thinner fabric and probably wouldn't hold up well with your cats.

Best suggestion is to make sure the fabric you select is sturdy/durable.
(twill or cotton duck are good)

Also, you want to know ALL the measurements needed to make the right choice.

Here are two sites that can help with that:

5. Couple of more sites with decent sale/discount prices

Boscov's Online Department Store:

Seventh Avenue:

on edit:
Want to add that if you do go with a slip cover or a throw, use an old broom handle, or something similar, to tuck down in between the sofa back and the seat platform to help keep the fabric tucked in place.

14. Tar-jhay.
Wal-Mart has 'em, too...but I'd go Target. On principal, if nothing else. I think the ones I was looking at ran about $80.00, give or take.

Otherwise, find an old bedspread and make one...I've done it for both sofas and chair, they're not too hard.

15. Here you go, they've got them all, and in great colors
http://www.surefit.net

They've got a ton of slipcovers, all kinds, stretch-to-fit, tailored, T-cushions, you name it. I got a sofa slipcover from them and the quality is excellent. Slipcovers for sofas, chairs, loveseats.

I would go with stretch-to-fit, because if your sofa gets a lot of use, then the other slipcovers tend to get a bit misplaced.

And they have sofa throws, too, which are the easiest of all.
