Unfortunately, in the ten days or so since this started, I had a gig, a rehearsal, a gig, a recording session (we ended up just recording instruments, but tried singing a bit to see if the husky sound would be "cool") and another gig. Singing is how I make my living . . . :-(
The next week will be leftofthedial goes mime.

Ginger Tea helps. Mince a small piece of ginger root. Put in cup. Add water. Let steep. I add honey & sometimes lemon.
Let it steep for at least 5 minutes. You don't have to strain it, but you will have little floating bits of ginger in your cup if you don't.
A voice teacher recommended this to me when I got laryngitis the night before final dress rehearsal. I wasn't in full voice for the show but at least I had enough to get through the first couple of performances. Of course, I didn't use my voice for anything else. It took three days for it to come back to normal.
If you have a sore throat, anise seed tea is also good. You really have to like the taste of licorice. Just grind up a teaspoon of the seeds and add hot water. Sweeten to taste. It's not a cure, just something soothing.
edited to add: I saw that you are a singer after I initially posted this. Humming to keep your voice warmed up before singing will help a bit but don't push your voice, you will just make it worse.

I've found the ginger tea to help too!
:hi:
I'm doing a few days of complete silence. No whispering, which is harder on the pipes than talking.
I just hope I haven't done too much damage over the past week.

5. Bigelow's Mint Medley tea |
|
Brew up a cup, inhale the peppermint and spearmint flavors, and drink slowly. The moisture from the steam really helps.
