What is your dream retirement?
Since I'm a Gen.Y/Nintendo Generation baby (born in '85 baby!), I won't be looking forward to that cool social program known as Social Security, so I just want a simple kind of retirement.

My SO and I want to retire somewhere remote by British Columbia and have TONS of dogs and animals-- we might not have kids so we might have a ton of furry babies :D

I want to grow a garden of delicious marijuana and grow cool strains all outdoors--I'm kinda hoping Canada by then will just have mj 100% legal to smoke and grow.

It's not a very glitzy retirement, but it'll make me happy :)

What are your dreams/plans for retirement? Or are you retired?

3. My dream is to live somewhere warm, with a wonderful view...
...with my loving husband by my side, surrounded by the pacific, enough land to grow tropical fruit, and have enough money to live comfortably. It probably won't happen that way, but that is my dream.

7. that works for me, too.
Ideally, enough xtra money to travel now and then.
Healthy also comes to my mind because if I am healthy, I have more financial freedom.

5. I'd love to retire to a lovely villa in the south of France
hopefully with a wonderful husband at my side and we can sip wine as we enjoy the scenery with no worries about money. I'm doubtful that any of this will ever happen especially the part about living abroad but you did say dream retirement...but all of this is still many decades away since I haven't even started a career to retire from yet!

6. a tiny place in coastal Maine...a couple of dogs....
nothing fancy...surrounded by books...the ability to pay for utilities and food and some good reading glasses.

Probably alone. A pity all those I love are cold-natured...except for the dogs. :)

10. I want an apartment in a safe urban area with good public transit
and money to follow the example of those people I know who have remained healthy enough physically and mentally to travel the world into their late eighties.

11. bar/brewpub on St Johns island
Can't go wrong with the tourist trade there and the snorkling is wonderful.

13. I'd have to win the powerball first....
But I'd buy a small Pacific island and declare it my own country. I'd go there with a few friends, my acoustic guitars, and margarita fixings. I've not worked out the mundane details (food or shelter) quite yet.

14. A cabin in the Maine Woods
However, there's some - let's say debate ;) - between myself and my SO who I think would prefer something in a warmer clime or at least in the city.

Retiring to the Maritimes in Canada might be a good idea from an economical stand point though at least for me - similar environment but national health care, lower cost of living.

But I think it's not easy to do that due to Canada's laws about immigration.
