Its doing really well at the box office but it looks just awful to me.

1. My son said it's bound to offend
due to what he said was anti-semetic material

but I heard another take on it on the radio this morning. Someone called in to say that rather than being an anti-semetic movie that it's a movie about anti-semetism. The caller claimed that Sasha Baron Cohen (who IS Jewish, BTW) puts people in uncomfortable situations to see how they will act.

I haven't seen it. Part of me wants to, but then I remember how I react to the crank phone calls and the practical joke TV shows and I figure I won't enjoy watching people squirm.

That's not to say that material like this shouldn't be made... it's just to say that it's not my preference to watch it.

2. My review
William Castle used to make teenagers sign waivers and fake insurance policies before viewing his cheap-o monster pictures back in the 1950s exempting the studio from litigation in case you died from fright, a nice publicity gimmick.

Sasha Baron Cohen should make ticket buyers for his film Borat: Cultural Learnings of American for Make Benefit Most Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan sign a waiver before entering a screening because there is a very real possibility you will injure yourself before the end credits.

I laughed so hard that my face ached and my stomach was sick. I emerged lightheaded, hoarse, and every muscle in my upper body burned as if I'd been furiously hitting the weights at the local YMCA.

I don't want to spoil a single iota of the film for anyone, so I'll only talk about the narrative thread that holds all of this madness together. Borat is sent to make a government funded documentary about the culture of the United States. He and his producer Azmat (Ken Davitian) leave Borat's small village for New York City. Once stateside he begins interviewing regular Americans who, irrespective of the popularity of Da Ali G Show, have no idea who or what Borat is.

4. OMG- hilarious
Of course, if you take any of it seriously, you will be offended. If you can laugh at yourself and others, you'll enjoy it. There are a lot of satirical bits that poke fun at American stupidity...

Anyway, I am Jewish, and anti-Semitism is a running a joke in th flick... I laughed my butt off. If you are a PC-sort of person, stay home.

6. If you're not easily offended, check it out.
Otherwise, don't bother--cause it'll whip you into a frenzy of righteous indignation at Borat and his anti-Semitic humor.

Do you know what it's about???" She said, "Well, (husband) has free tickets to that theatre and wants to use them up before they expire." I said, "Well, don't be surprised if you hate the movie." I know how she is. Well, Saturday, she called me and said she HATED it. Toldja so, Mom...

12. OMG, my mother totally hates immature humor, so that's why
she hated the movie. Her husband is (I am sure) the one who suggested they see it, but I'm guessing he had absolutely no idea what it was about. :P
