My local mega-theater has drug dogs at the exit doors

I've only been there a couple times, but both times after a 10:30ish movie the police and drug dogs are standing next to the only exit door.

Thats just wrong.

Do they do this at a theater near you?

1. that's very strange

never heard of anything like it. Explosive sniffing dogs at the theater by the train station, but that's for the train station itself, not the theater.

What's even more strange is my first thought upon seeing "drug dogs"...like, does that mean hot dogs laced with cocaine or acid or something? Seems like they should serve them on the way in to the movie, not at the exits. Maybe it's time for me to lay off the drug dogs.

2. Are you sure they are drug dogs, and not normal K-9 units?

Im only wondering because it seems kind of odd to put drug dogs at the exit, instead of the entrance. What purpose does it serve to search for drugs as people leave? Do they actually sniff you as you pass?

If your megaplex is anything like the ones near where I live, its probably for crowd control. We get a LOT of rowdy teens on Friday and Saturday nights. An officer or two standing by with a dog would make these kids watch their behavior until they leave.

not sure. I think if they were drug dogs, the reason they put them at the exit is because you don't seem them when you go in and there is only one exit when you come out. Nobody expects them there, and there is only about a 5 foot space where you can walk out.
