MADRID, Spain -- A group of protesters that recently took to the streets in Spain didn't chant -- but they did bleat.
A flock of about 700 sheep marched through Madrid on Sunday in an annual protest to urge the protection of 78,000 miles of ancient livestock grazing routes.
Some of the paths are 800 years old and are being threatened by urban development.
The annual protest also included donkeys, horses and people dressed in old-fashioned clothes from rural Spain. Crowds lined up to see the protest and children petted the animals as they marched past.
The march was scheduled for last weekend but was delayed by road construction.
