My neighbor is going to cook a TURDUCKEN. And he's about 80 years young. |
|
What's a turducken? A duck, inside a chicken, inside a turkey. With 3 different stuffings. http://www.culinarycafe.com/Holiday_Favorites/Turducken.html

3. You gotta figure: with a name that starts with "TURD", it HAS to be good! |
|
And it really is!
It actually takes on some qualities all its own- flavors you can't get any other way. It's something I recommend that EVERYONE try at least once.
The TURKEY seems to absorb much of the the grease from the DUCK, and starts to acquire a unique flavor/texture that I can only describe as "vaguely HAM-like"...it's what "turkey ham" might be like if it tasted good.
The DUCK moves away from tasting like a duck, and starts taking on the qualities of very lean, tender beef...like a cross between a mild young duck and a fresh, unseasoned Filet Mignon.
And the CHICKEN, surprisingly enough...tastes like chicken! But a very tender & juicy chicken, since it's been slow-cooked while wrapped in 3 inches of meat.
