8. Such is the real poll that will determine the BCS Champion
On Saturday, both Ohio State and Michigan will win. ESPN will overexaggerate the importance of each team, just like they did with USC (most overrated team in history of NCAA). I'll be surprised if Saturday's loser drops out of the top three, which is pathetic considering the pansy schedule enjoyed by BOTH the Buckeyes and Wolverines.

I watch games like Ohio State vs. Michigan every week; they're called SEC rivalries, like Florida vs Auburn, or LSU vs Tennessee, or LSU vs Arkansas, or Florida vs. Georgia, or Florida vs Tennessee, LSU vs Auburn, or Alabama vs. Tennessee, or Auburn vs. Georgia, I could go on. These games contain both the players and coaches that will enjoy future success in the NFL. So do games like Ohio State vs Michigan, or Notre Dame vs. USC, but on a much smaller scale, and in much smaller doses.

I hope for an awesome game Saturday; I hope to see the Buckeyes anhiliate the Wolverines, and then Florida can play Ohio State for the title, and, I guarantee you, Florida would SPANK the Bucs.

But this will never happen. The BCS gods live in the West (USC) and in the North (Ohio State, Michigan). They vacation, on occasion, in the South, but, I assure you, the South is not their home, and will NEVER be.

The only loser on Saturday is the SEC, who will once again be ignored by the BCS.

Edited on Tue Nov-14-06 02:47 PM by 1gobluedem
Big Ten football is REAL smashmouth, serious football played in the cold north. That's how football should be played. Would so love to see a team from Florida try to play in 30 degree temps with howling winds and driven snow and rain like we had on October 28.

It's time the Big Ten got its national due instead of the media drooling over the PAC Ten and SEC.

Go Blue!

So the big ten team could play in Miami in August. National due for the Big Ten. That's funny! Auburn got drooled right out of the national title game a few years ago.

21. Ummm you mean the Florida that squeaked by unranked South Carolina?
versus the Ohio State that spanked Texas IN Austin? Bwah-ha ha!

The SEC has historically had great teams, but it's not so every year and it's not so this year. I've seen Florida play and Chris Leak is a very average QB on a very average team. Florida will not play in the national championship, I don't believe. If OSU/Michigan isn't close, the winner of that game will go and the winner of the USC/Notre Dame game will go.

...my prediction...OSU vs. Michigan...twice. :-)

43. Wooooo Pig Soooooie
I'm with ya Wayne, except I think Notre Dame nudges out USC as the most overrated school ever. And I'm not sure Florida is going to win the SEC championship game, but this year has gone par. The SEC teams have beaten each other up all season (every season) and now we have to listen to how great a buckeye and a wolverine are and watch as Notre Dame leap frogs four teams in one weekend for no apparent reason. I'll take a Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville or Athens or Baton Rouge or Knoxville or Auburn or Jackson on any given week.

57. BCS will NEVER allow Ohio State and that team up north to play for champs
Edited on Tue Nov-14-06 04:17 PM by mtnester
because it fucks the bowl coalition out of tons of money...they will split them up no matter how it turns out, thus losing any last shred of credibility the BCS may have left.

Bring on a true playoff system.

That said...I am from just outside Columbus, Ohio...so, I guess you can figure who I am rooting for...it is a by birth kinda thing here.

On edit -

17. Who crafted the poll, Kenneth Blackwell?
Michigan has played two teams with only one loss each (Wisconsin and Notre Dame). Yes, they played a couple of MAC teams, but I should remind you that the MAC has sent a lot of quality players to the pros.

I briefly considered moving to Ohio simply so I could pay taxes, then call OSU and complain about Tressel engaging in prayer on the field while he is in the pay of the state, but it wouldn't be worth it.

Nothing will be happening on Saturday. My advice (or advise, as Ohiosmith would say), is for the team to relax and party all week. Get loose! Enjoy yourselves! Bask in the memory of my favorite Terry Glenn quote, from 1995: Michigan is NOBODY. Remember that!

31. is that the national championship game?
My prediction is that whoever wins that game will lose the national championship game to a California or Florida team. They almost always do - especially if it's Michigan. I remember when I was a kid seeing Michigan in the Rose Bowl almost every year, and the announcers would say - 'if Michigan wins, they will be #1 in the country'. Invariably Michigan lost.

Go Buckeyes!!!!

79. The Michigan-Ohio State game has been the last game of the season since 1935
Called the greatest rivalry in college sports.

Yes, they've both lost to other teams but getting to the Rose Bowl used to mean that you were the Big Ten champs. And, more often that not, especially in the 1970s and 1980s that was the Michigan-Ohio State winner.

61. Four college alumni were climbing a mountain one day...
an Ohio State grad, a Michigan grad, a Penn State grad, and a Notre Dame grad. Each proclaimed to be the most loyal of all fans at their alma mater. As they climbed higher, they argued as to which one of them was the most loyal of all. They continued to argue all the way up the mountain, and finally as they reached the top, the Notre Dame grad hurled himself off the mountain, shouting "This is for the Fighting Irish!" as he fell to his doom. Not wanting to be out done, the Penn State grad threw himself off the mountain proclaiming, "This is for the Nittany Lions!" Seeing this the OSU grad walked over and shouted "This is for the Buckeyes!" and pushed the Wolverine off the side of the mountain
