To the Red Lobster Haters
Basically, this is where heros go to eat.

Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Boy, 9, stopped car when mom passed out

CLEBURNE, Texas, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- A young boy in Texas pulled over his mother's car on a busy highway and dialed 911 after she passed out while driving.

Nine-year-old Jimmy Stevens said he learned how to stop the car and put it in park from watching his mother, Latisha, ABC News reported Monday.

"I hopped in her lap, and reached my feet as far as I could, and pushed the brake, and put it in park," he said.

Latisha Stevens, who doctors believe passed out from a severe panic attack while driving with Jimmy and his two younger siblings in the car, told ABC's "Good Morning America Weekend Edition" Sunday that her son has always been the take-charge type.

"He's always been that way," she said. "When his dad's gone, he says he's the man of the house. 'I've got to take care of things.'"

The boy's mother said she was "extremely proud. I couldn't be ... prouder," and said the family was planning special dinner at Red Lobster in Jimmy's honor.

4. If you live in an isolated, landlocked prairie city of 165,000 people...
Red Lobster is the only decent seafood you can find.

You won't find me knocking Red Lobster.

5. That's the long and short of it...
They've tried and tried to make a go of it here in Louisiana, but why on earth would someone opt for frozen seafood when they can get something fresh?

6. You might be surprised...
back in my NOLA days ('89-'91), the T-P told of some local people who saw the enticing Red Lobster ads on national TV. They soon realized there were no Red Lobsters in greater N.O. -- so they drove up the coast to the nearest one, in Gulfport, Miss.!

One wonders if that location has rebuilt, and if not, just how far ad-besotted New Orleanians are now willing to go for frozen seafood that never saw a bayou until the reefer truck crossed one on a trestle. :eyes:

8. Well NOLA and Baton Rouge are different....
from a culinary standpoint. Baton Rouge simply will NOT tolerate many mediocre restaurants. TGI-Friday's has tried a couple of times, as has Red Lobster.

Right now, NOLA's restaurants are severely hurting- some have moved to Baton Rouge permanently, others (even some classic institutions) have shut down entirely.

9. back in my NOLA days ('80 - '84)
the Hilton in Kenner offered an All You Can Eat Lobster Buffet.

the home office didn't think this through very well, as the local patrons would eat 20 at a clip. a "chicken" lobster ain't that much bigger than a healthy crawfish :-)

promotion ended very quickly.

14. Actually there are Red Lobsters on Long Island...
...and you can get damn good seafood on L.I. Yet the Red Lobsters are always full. Inexpensive, maybe?

11. that the truth!
I grew up on the Georgia coast and rarely bought seafood.Usually,The only time I did was when I was withfriends out for the night. The local Red Lobster really sucked. Why they put these places in coastal areas is a mystery to many.
Years later, while in Tennessee on business,My colleagues all wanted to go to R.O. for dinner,to my horror.I could not talk them out of so ended up going there.Boy was I surprised. It was not as bad as I thought it would be.Much better than ANY of the other local seafood places.

19. I think because they advertise on Rush Limbaugh
they were the target of a boycott a few years back.

Not sure how that translates to "haters" though.
