1. Most anything with Drew Barrymore.
I can tolerate a lot if she's in a movie.

9. Well No......
Being a gay man, I was more interested in the costumes and dance moves. You must understand that my male str8 friends call this their favourite chick flick. Not me. For a movie that makes me cry........let's see.........I would have to say Roman Polanski's adaptation of Tess of the D'Urbervilles. Starring Nastasjia Kinski. One of the most under-rated films of all time. IMHO.

14. I had to watch Tess for high school English class
I was very impressed. He actually made Thomas Hardy bearable.

11. A League of their Own
A nice blend of ethos and pothos. War widows, fighting sisters, soundtrack tugging at the heartstrings. Madonna "giving" confession. A happy reunion in the end. A loveable drunk. A snotnosed brat. The ugly duckling gets her man. Great baseball action. And for me the best part, Geena Davis.

27. Not to mention.....
one of Tom Hanks best performances, done before he became an institution and was still capable of serious rudeness with no image to protect.

Funny, I was just thinking about that movie today.

16. The Princess Bride
Sure it's a romance, but it's got pirates, swordfighting, kidnappings, poisonings, Christopher Guest ... AND Andre the Giant.

What more could you ask for?

19. Can a sports movie be a chick flick?
Honestly, I'm not clear on the definition. If you just want tear jerkers I nominate this one:

The original telemovie. I saw it over the weekend and quite liked it. Sometime in the future, I'll start into the telly series so I can look at Lisa Chappell.
