But It was due more to events in my real life that made be rather emotional and Crazy.And things on Du just hit me wrong.
I won't do it again.
If I ever leave or take a long break I may post a farewell or a Cya for awhile.
But only as a courtesy to those who may care.

People post pointless drivel here all day, every day. We proclaim that we're bored, or horny, or lonely, or hungry, or sexy, or angry, or sad, or worried, or in love, or dumped, or hired or fired, on and on, ad nauseam. We all do it, and we hope for a reaction from other community members. Furthermore, we come to feel like we belong here and that people care about us. Yeah, you've made it clear that this is a delusion. Nevertheless it's a delusion we all experience to varying degrees. The goodbye post is the same thing. Some disgruntled or hurt person posts their feelings and waits to see if there's a response, because they feel a bond with the community. I have to wonder why this type of post elicits more negative comments than, say, a post about what somebody had for breakfast yesterday morning. If you're not interested then there is no need to snark about the post. Is there? I really don't get it. :shrug:

If someone leaves, I'd at least like to be able to say good-bye. If there is no relationship, then I just won't post in the thread, not post on it to say 'fuck you' in whatever form. I have my karma to think about, plus I like to try to put myself in the other person's shoes and ask how I would feel if I was on the receiving end of those things. The thing that amazes me about the Lounge is how quick it is we forget that WE ARE ALL ON THE SAME TEAM, at least in theory.

All I know is I have hidden a lot of threads today, and none of them have been good-bye posts.

I have been guilty of it in the past, we all have, but I am trying not to start so many of those threads.

In the end, most of us don't really care that anyone is horny or bored or hungry. Do we? :shrug:

I agree that things are posted just to get a reaction and many of those threads do get a big response.
I also agree that many of us come back here because we do feel like we belong here.

But then there's the extreme to that and people end up posting a minute-by-minute account of their day.

I do feel a sense of comfort and familiarity here but sometimes people just don't know when to stop.

Ignore and hide thread works fine for me.
I don't need to rant about how sensitive I am because someone made fun of Rachael Ray or American Idol.

However I have an odd but heartfelt habit of caring what people are going through. There's too much of it here to absorb, naturally, but I do my best. IRL it's much the same; I think about other people, how they feel, how they take action or do not, and gauge my response armed with, I hope understanding. Or, I don't respond at all and leave that up to somebody more thoughtful. Different personality types, you and I. Which is why I said that I just don't get it.

52. Went to doc yesterday for knee

Still sore, somewhat swollen, just not right. Had x-rays done, and have a follow-up app't. next week, unless the 'rays show a fracture. Also, turns out I either sprained or fractured my left ankle...but am walking, and fine as long as I don't do a lot of stairs, climbing ladders, or too long of walking.

Am getting settled, but kind of hard to put things away that are down low or too high. However, am turning that little room off the kitchen/dining area into an actual dining room. Have already drawn up sketches, selected paints, wall treatment design and fabric for drapes. If am doing better by Friday, will paint it this weekend.

But I don't think I do anymore. I still think that sometimes it's just a plea for attention because things aren't going their way. But, I've always hated the internet bullies, and even DU has them, just like all message boards do. I fully understand why some people feel like running away screaming and crying, and feeling fed up.
