All these music/band threads...
And I decide to make another one...:) What bands have made an impact in your life? For me, the first band that made an impact with me was Bryan Adams...yeah, laugh it up. When I was younger I was a sap for love songs and what not, and Bryan Adams pumped out a few good ones.

The second musical impact in my life was White Lion...80's hair band, their music inspired me, was...happy music essentially.

The biggest musical impact in my life was Metallica...in the 7th grade I started listening to these guys...I started with Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets and Killem All...I really didn't care for Kill'em All, in the least bit...the cd to me was weak, but over the years Metallica has polished up on those tunes, and improved greatly. Metallica grabbed me by their dark lyrics, their angry lyrics...I never heard angry music before them, and Metallica was...great...great rhythm, bass, and lead...fantastic group...the drummer was by far the weakest link in the band musically...

My outside influences, from my mother/father...

Mother:Sheena Easton, Abba, Journey, Air Supply, Marie Osmond...music like that...

Father:Mama's and the Papas, The Doors, Jimi, Marty Robbins, Oakridge Boys...to name a few.

I do like some of the music my father/mother listened to, and every one I listed above, I have in my own collection....

So, Lounger's...what music impacted your life....and list as many as you feel you have to...

1. Metallica

2. Bryan Adams

3. White Lion

4. Life of Agony

5. Pink Floyd

6. The Doors

7. Jimi

8. Ozzy/Black Sabbath

9. Dio

10. NIN

Thats my top ten...:) I would not be the same person I am today, without the bands I listed...each song, by each group brings back good/bad memories, memories of old friends...of old lovers, of old drama...

3. NIN was late high school and the few years after high school
so that would be 1994-1997 or so.

1997-1998 was sort of a weedy time for me. I drifed in and out of Beck, Smashing Pumpkins, Tori Amos, and a few others.

1999 I got into Modest Mouse, so much of my college years was Modest Mouse.

Radiohead's album Kid A was the fall of 2001 for me, and it moved on to Amnesiac in 2002 and Hail to the Thief in 2004.

I still listen to those artists all the time, but I'm in a bit of a lull where I'm looking for the next thing.

4. The last band that made an impression on me
was Life of Agony...and that was 6yrs ago...nothing since then has impacted me...a few metal bands...and Sarah Mclachlan has impressed me...but nothing earth moving for me since 2000...

I started Metallica in 88, and listened to them all through junior high/high school...the 90's were good for music imo...NIN made the biggest impact on me, during my high school years 91-95...I started growing alot musically when I was in college 95-97...started listening to Iron Maiden, Dio, Judas Priest...some older metal/hardrock bands...

17. Local bands around Seattle....
....have made the most impact on me. I spent over a decade photographing the local music scene, met a number of bands who touched me emotionally with their art. The bitch was in knowing that none of that talent was ever gonna see national exposure. I have been out of that scene for a few years now but when I fire up the stereo I still reach for their C.D.s and the feelings all flood back. Maybe you just had to have been there, I suppose thats how music works regardless of the band. Here is a link to one of those bands, long gone but worth a listen at any rate. They did a bang up job of crossing country with punk/rock in some of their songs: http://www.giantradio.com/cookie.html
