My heat won't come on, and I haven't had time to call the landlord yet. I've been freezing when I've been home. I've even resorted to turning the oven on just to warm up.
I bought an oil-filled heater, and found an appropriate extension cord. It's plugged in, and I'm finally warming up.
:woohoo:

4. No, you never have to fill them. They plug into the wall. |
|
They are a self contained unit. We have cheap electricity and natural gas is expensive. We have a really big house and with these we can warm the parts of the house we use. It is much cheaper.
They are not like having heating oil delivered.

5. It's electric and completely sealed |
|
It looks like a radiator. It's quiet too, as there isn't a fan. It's 8 Celcius right now, and it will get down to 4 Celcius overnight.
My place is old though and very poorly insulated. Plus I have all hardwood floors and I'm over the carport, so my place gets chilly.

7. It got cold really suddenly this year |
|
It was sunny, and you didn't need a jacket in the daytime and then BOOM it was cold. We're in for a huge wind/rain storm tonight as well...like we need anymore rain. :eyes:

8. And we are in a drought. |
|
Our beautiful Lake Travis is so dry that some marinas have no water within a hundred yards.
We could use the rain. You keep the cold, though.

But at least Austin will be nice this week...although we're suppose to get a northerner tomorrow.

10. I wish we could give you some of our water |
|
Lots of places in the valley are flooded. If we get several more days of this, we also might get some landslides.
