Got a job. If you know me from my posts, how can I pay it forward?
Once I'm flesh again, that is. I am SO fortunate. Got a 15% pay increase over my last job. :wow: GOD, am I fortunate.

So: How can I best pay it forward? Suggestions? (I know it's not all about money, but at this time I haven't much energy for volunteering.)

PS for those following the saga: yes, it is the job I wanted. The agency negotiated the better salary for me by telling them I'd already had another offer at XX salary. The place I wanted matched it. :7 Thanks, everyone, for your support.

4. Way to go Bertha!
:toast: :bounce: I hope the job turns out to be everything you expected and more!

Maybe a donation to your local homeless shelter would be a good way to pay it forward  .

7. Random acts of star donation
Find a DUer who perhaps you know but they don't have a star and make a donation for them. I do that alot but I make it a point to not tell that person I'm donating. I'm not keen on that "I'm donating so if you need a star post here".

10. Ferally.
The best way to pay it forward may be to train some others how to encourage ferals to come in from the cold and live a life of luxury with humans.

11. First of all Congratulations to you!
Most of all I think you pay it forward every day of your life K. The good you do in your day to day endeavours for the cats, the caring in your soul that you have for those around you. You already pay it forward.

just my 2c.

12. Enjoy yourself!
Happiness is contagious.

That's all you really have to do. When you are happy "paying it forward" comes naturally. You'll find yourself just doing it.

14. Your agency negotiated your salary???!!! How cool is that?
Wow! That's something!! I am in a very specialized field, and got my last two jobs through headhunters. Didn't offer any help when it came to the painful salary negotiations, though, that's for damned sure.

Congrats!

Hey, I know what you can do, Bertha. How about adopting another cat??? (I thought you'd like that suggestion)

But since you're in the DC area, why not drop off some magazines or CDs to Bethesda Naval Hospital http://www.bethesda.med.navy.mil/Visitor/

There's "The Comfort Zone" and "The Liberty Zone" and "The Naval Exchange", all of which support troops and their families. I called the Comfort Zone a few months ago, and they welcome the donation of new and old magazines. Not a big deal in terms of cost or time commitment, but a nice way to pay it forward.

15. Pay your homeless tax
Give a $20 to a random homless person out there.

Leave him or her the dignity to do with that money whatever they want.

17. Congratulations!!!!
Congrats, Bertha!!

As for paying it forward...this time of year opportunities arise everywhere. I would say just pay attention to your surroundings and the people you encounter daily. Do any of them need your help? Is there someone who can't afford a big Thanksgiving dinner? Someone who can't pay the heating bill? Someone who can't afford to give their kids a Christmas gift this year?

And again, CONGRATS!!! :bounce:
