VHS Is Dead
The days of being charged an extra $.50 for not rewinding are over.

Bye bye VHS.

1. I was just talking about this with a friend of mine who was over
this evening. I was looking for a PS2 game and ran across an old birthdy gift, the Ken Burns Baseball Series, on VHS. I said, look at that, I got this whole series, and not one VCR to play it on. :(

2. DIVX was a crib death
so now we wait to see who will be killed; Blu-Ray or HD-DVD

some lesser known killings:

DAT
SACD
DVD-A
DTS-CD
DCC

3. Sez You!
Well, sez you and Variety, which I suppose is a fairly authoritative source. But I have a large collection of oddball VHS movies, which will last forever! or until they thin out and bust on me, whichever comes first.

Boy, if I could post a picture of my VHS collection, you'd be amazed, and likely bow down before me.

8. Get out of my yard!
Lots of albums! But in MY day, we called 'em "vinyl." And we wore onions on our belts.

4. Thank god I bought my mom a DVD player
for her birthday 2 months ago.

Seriously. She's only in her 50s. I couldn't believe she still used the VCR.

5. It's quite useful when you need to record 2 different shows while watching another
I suppose someday my cable company may offer a 3 tuner DVR, but that day isn't here yet.

9. Yes, yes ...

That 50 cent rewinding fee is gone, replaced by hidden, but far more expensive licensing fees, limited term licensing, draconian enforcement strategies for licensing and a further erosion of our rights as consumers.

VHS is dead. Long live VHS, or at least life before the DMCA. :-)

11. Analog tape is teh sux0r
I have tapes that are barely 5 years old that no longer track, no matter how much I fiddle with the adjustment.

I've always hated analog with a passion. I'll take MPEG compression artifacts over noise, time base error and head wear any day.

So long, VHS. And take those ****ing audio cassettes with you!
