4. I stopped using it
It's okay, and they finally are giving a gigabyte of space (it was only 6MB when I opened my account), but Gmail is much better. Contact me if you want an account.

9. I have email accounts with Yahoo and Gmail. They're both good.
I can also give you a Gmail invite if you need one. PM me your email address and I'll send you the invite. :hi:

10. Gmail has some great features
For example: My wife has a friend who always sends email to my address, even though it's intended for my wife. I set up a filter that automatically forwards her emails to my wife, and deletes my copy. I never even see them.

Also, I set up a filter that automatically forwards all attachments to my second Gmail account, so I can delete them from my main account, and still have a backup. If my second account fills up, I'll route them to my third account.

You can archive messages so the inbox is manageable, but the messages are still saved.

2.7 GB of space!

There are Firefox extensions that allow you to use Gmail as an FTP account.

I know somebody who sends lots of dumb email forwards. I filter them out, so they're still there, but don't show in my inbox.

I have another friend whose emails I look forward to. I filter his, just like the guy above, so I can access them all in one page.

Yahoo mail is blocked by my employer. Gmail isn't (okay, that only applies to me)

Yahoo limits the number of filters and blocked emails, trying to get you to pay extra to get more (even the pay service limits the number). Gmail offers unlimited filters and forwards, and never asks you to pay for upgrades.

Yahoo allows you to move messages to folders, while Gmail allows labels but not folders. The advantage is that you can apply multiple labels to one message, but with folders you have to choose only one.

I could go on and on.

11. Oh, I almost forgot

When I send an email from my Gmail account, it appears in your inbox as though it was sent from my own domain. It replaces my own mail server, as it sends and receives from my domain.

Yahoo offers the same service for about $35 per domain per year. Gmail lets you do this free for as many domains, or addresses you like.

Another... if your address is bobby@gmail.com, you can give out this address when you're worried about spam... bobby+spam@gmail.com, then create a filter that disposes of messages any way you like.

8. yahoo mail is very good......
....only a tiny bit of spam slips thru the spam filter. hotmail isn't as good at fighting spam. gmail is good though the interface is different.

both yahoo and gmail have excellent search capabilities to search thru your inbox.

12. If you use Yahoo!Mail, be sure to turn off the web beacons
You'll find how to do it somewhere in the privacy policy, I think.

Other than that, sure, go for it!
