CONFESS!!! When eating at home, where do you eat? |
|
Do you have a dining room table, and is it a Cleaver-esque gathering (parents and kids, etc)? Breakfast bar/nook? Eat-in kitchen? Do you use tv trays? Squat on the floor? At a desk/counter where the computer is? Are all your meals in transit (car/subway/bus/train)? Are you a performing seal that simply has fish thrown to you for doing a backflip and slapping your flippers together?
We all want to know. No, honest, we do. What say you, DU?

Get it? I'll bite. I kill myself.
Anyhoo. I usually eat lunch at my desk or out to lunch if my husband is home.
Dinner is at the table with the fam.
Breakfast. Don't usually eat it. Usually just mega cups of coffee to jump start the AM.

5. It's just me, and I eat at the dining room table. |
|
Sometimes, though, like if I have pizza, I eat on the couch.
I do try, at mealtime, to actually sit down, relax, and focus on the meal (though I might read or watch TV at the time). I don't like to make a plate of food and nibble on it while working or running around or just stand at the kitchen sink and fill my belly.
I like to make meal time a special time.

I found a great way to overcome the dining room dumping spot syndrome..at least it worked for us...I cleaned the table off and then set it. Placemats, nice napkins and the good plates. We use them every night for supper, even if we're just having take-out pizza. Soon as they come out of the dishwasher they go right back on the table. The table always looks nice and we actually eat together as a family (for at least one meal).

We eat at the dining room table!
There is no table in the kitchen, and we just always eat in the dr!
When we were designing the house, the architect kept drawing in a breakfast nook in the kitchen...
And I kept erasing it out........
I did finally prevail.....as you will see!
I rarely eat anything in front of my computer....sometimes I'll drink my coffee there........

But that's not my choice. Hubby is an artist, and our kitchen table is covered with his art supplies and everything. It's the largest flat work surface we have, and needless to say, it's not very aesthetically pleasing when he's around. :( I'd love it if he'd find another place in the house to do that, but there isn't really anywhere else he can go.

Supper is ALWAYS eaten in the dining room. No exceptions. We never eat in the living room, except for maybe popcorn once in awhile.

Breakfast room Kitchen bar Dining Room Family room (in front of the TV) Sitting room (in front of the other TV) Pool deck
We most often eat at the smaller round table in the breakfast room. But that table only has 3 chairs, so if we have guests we eat at the big table in the dining room. If it's nice out and not too dark, we'll eat out on the pool deck at the patio table. If we are watching a movie, then we might eat on the family room couch off of trays. We actually rarely eat in the sitting room, because it's on the second floor. And we often have our morning coffee and cereal at the kitchen bar.
After all, variety is the spice of life :-)

For some reason though, my eating disorder makes it hard to eat. In order to eat a proper meal, it is much easier to eat in front of the computer. It annoys my husband but he'd rather me eat healthy instead of looking like a skeleton.

47. Coffee Table in Living Room for the most part |
|
Sometimes at the computer.
I just moved into a bigger place and have been dining table-less for over two years. Now that I have a proper dining room and a very large kitchen, the first major purchase will be a kitchen island and four stools for casual dining. I'm not big on formal dining, but a small dining table will appear at some point as well.
