7. Honesty and kindness are both important.
And wrapping it in a bit of tact doesn't hurt. :)

16. I know who they are probably going to hire.
It's a beautiful, recently married woman who's a friend of our bookkeeper. The straight guys in the office will definitely appreciate her presence. I will appreciate that we know she's smart and meticulous. :)

14. "No" and then leave the room.
Wrong answers include:

Compared to what?

There's more of you to love.

I've seen fatter.

18. "I don't care to hang out with the type of person who would ask such a question, goodbye."
Only being partially facetious there! Once y ou hit yer late forties some issues simply cease being relevant and I have NOOOO use for them!

The question becomes not do I look fat in these clothes-- but simply, do I feel comfortable in them! And that I can answer for myself, thank you very much....

Either that or just point behind her, and when she turns around, jump out the nearest window.

25. Respond with mild surprise,

...as if the thought of your beloved ever looking fat in any clothes had never occurred to you:

"Well, if you're concerned about that I've heard you're supposed to wear dark colors and vertical stripes or something. I think. I dunno. Anyway you look great to me."

Then shrug innocently and smile.
