I got a new car! Well, new to me anyway.
It's an '05 Mazda Tribute. 16,800 miles, with an extended warranty that should cover me up to 100K miles. It's a little boxier-looking than I'd prefer, but the price was right and the timing was right. Go me! :bounce:

1. Congrats, Bunny!
Nothing like a "new" car. Does it get good gas mileage?

2. I don't know, I've only driven it four miles!
I think it's in the 20-24 range, and I do mostly highway driving so I should be good. My previous car only got 19 MPG, so I'm hoping this does better.

3. That's what Mrs. XNASA drives.
Only hers is a '03 and it's kind of a silvery green. She also has heated leather, which is a must here.

Things to watch out for.....

Front wheel bearings. They go bad. Mazda knows about it. There's a service bulletin. We had ours replaced under warranty.

Front brakes/rotors. You might find that you get a lot of brake dust on the front rims. This is because Tributes go through front brakes and rotors like there's no tomorrow. After 24,000, they recommend changing the front brake pads AND the rotors. It's ridiculous. There are aftermarket pads and rotors from Brembo that cost about the same to replace, and will last 2 or 3 times as long.

Gas mileage around town isn't great, about 14-18 mpg. Highway is much better. About 25-28.

Road noise on the highway is pronounced, but overall...a pleasant vehicle to travel in. And lot's and lot's of pep. More than most any other cute ute and certainly more than bigger SUV's.

Good Luck! Great looking car, Bunny.

10. Thanks for the info. I'm kinda bummed to hear about the brakes.
I'm very hard on brakes. :( On the positive side, it is very peppy, as you say. It's a 6 cylinder!

18. Yes. 6 cylinder with double overhead cam.
It's actually the same motor that's in a Jaguar S-Type.

So you can do as Mrs. XNASA does, and you can pretend to own a Jag. ;)

12. I used to work with a lady who has one of those. They're cute, and
you can put an amazing amount of stuff inside, too.
