Shows a big diff between your mom & mine.

Mine read the rags of the day; it seems your mom read real newspapers. :hi:

4. When I was born...
my parents wanted to name me after an elderly woman who was like a 3rd grandmother to me. I got her name as a middle name. The only other person my mom had ever known with that middle name, their first name was Barbara. About that time Barbara Jordan was making a splash and my mom really admired her...so Barbara is was. I like it. It's not a common name anymore.

Even if you told us your first name now, I wouldn't be able to identify it with you. You are Redstone. Period.

9. Redstone is one of my middle names. And it's who I am most comfortable being.
As you so wisely pointed out, it's who I am. And have been for a damn long time.

Names are strong medicine for us Indians, and you recognize that. I appreciate it.

11. I have no idea who she is, but there's strength there as well as beauty.
So I'd suspect you wouldn't mind being named after her.

15. Was named after my grandfather
Edited on Thu Nov-16-06 11:24 PM by Whoa_Nelly
and my granddaughter was named after me.

My grandfather was one of the founders of The Cowboy Hall of Fame, was an honorary Osage Chief, and a federal guardian for Jackson Barnett, the world's richest Indian. So, he was famous in his own way ;)

Don't have a pic of my grandfather handy, but here's my granddaughter and me
(one most of you have seen already, but dang that little girl is such a cutie!)

31. Totally giving my age away here, but ...
Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 02:53 AM by NanceGreggs
... Frank Sinatra was all the rage when I was born, and his rendition of "Nancy With The Laughing Face" was in heavy radio rotation. I've always hated the name ... but considering the "other" names popular in those olden days, it could have been a LOT WORSE.

On Edit: DUH! Just remembered the point of the OP. The fact that Fabulous Frankie had a wife and a new daughter, both named Nancy, sealed the deal.
