will a fox eat a cat?

5. Years ago when I was in college, I saw a fox chasing one of

the feral cats on campus. In fact, the fox almost knocked me down in the process. Sadly, the poor cat's tail was found the next day. The fox not only killed her, it also ate her.

Foxes are adorable but they do view cats as prey. I would think that to a fox, there would be little difference between cats and rabbits.

About 10 or 11 years ago, a friend of woke up in the middle of the night to a hell of a ruckus in the back yard (semi-rural area). So he got up, went out back to find his cat kicking the shit out of a fox. Fox never came back. The next wee the cat got his ass handed to him bu a black squirrel `

7. I wouldn't worry too much

In Britain, cats are habitually allowed to roam outside. Foxes are also very common, but cats are far more likely to be killed by a car than by a fox.

that a fox is probably looking for prey much smaller than a cat. It may be able to kill a cat, but the cat will be able to do too much damage in return to make it worthwhile. The fox will probably prefer to take on something smaller.
